Meet the Aerodynamics Leads

As part of the Meet the Leads series, Formula Buckeyes is proud to introduce the leadership of the Aerodynamics sub-team for the 2026 season.

Sam Patterson– Aerodynamics Lead

Sam, a junior aerospace engineer, plays a major role in the manufacturing and implementation of the team’s aerodynamic package. He oversees the design and build process to ensure that components are produced accurately, efficiently, and up to the standards required for competition. From mold preparation to final assembly, Sam focuses on precision and performance

while guiding the next generation of aerodynamics engineers. 

Advice for members: Jump to be involved! It can be hard to set yourself apart and get experience on such a large team, so take any opportunity that’s presented and do more.

Viktor Bakhurynskyy– Aerodynamics Lead

Senior aerospace engineer, Viktor, focuses on computational fluid dynamics (CFD), leading the analysis and optimization of the team’s aerodynamic designs. Through simulation, he works to maximize downforce and maintain efficiency. As a senior member of the team, Viktor not only directs design and manufacturing but also leads and instructs members in CFD and aerodynamic theory to ensure continuous improvement. 

Advice for members: Be social, ask random people questions, and do your best to know everyone and what they do! Building connections is very important.
