Our

Story

The Formula Buckeyes SAE race team is a non-profit, student-led organization focused on applying and developing engineering knowledge through solving real-world applications. Our Team consists of students from a variety of majors including Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Accounting, Engineering Physics, Computer Science, Industrial Systems Engineering, and Welding Engineering to name a few. Through this variety of talent and dedication, we design, fabricate, and race a high performance, open wheeled race car. We compete against over 120 other colleges and universities at the Eastern (Michigan) Formula SAE competitions, as well as internationally at Formula Student Germany and Formula North (Canada).

The concept of the Formula SAE competition is to allow students to take part in vehicle research, development, and fabrication. FSAE students are highly sought after in industry as a result of their real world problem solving and project team experience gained while on the team.

Student Involvement

Building a high performance race car requires a lot of volunteer help from students. It doesn’t matter if you have or haven’t used CAD software, welded, or even driven a car before. The only thing we require is a willingness to learn, as all team leaders are ready to teach you anything and everything you’ve ever wanted to know about race car engineering.

We get to drive our cars!

Everyone who puts time in on the team gets to drive 400 lbs of high performance race machine.
There is no better feeling than to be able to drive the race car that you had a hand in designing and building. With 0-60 times in the 3.2 second range, prepare to have your mind blown each and every time you buckle up in our little rocket ship.
